Business Analyst Assistant - Working Student (40%)

Join a dynamic, data-driven team at the intersection of publishing, technology, and analytics. As a Business Analyst Assistant in the CTO Office team, you’ll work hands-on with real datasets, support key analytical projects, and contribute to meaningful insights that shape our global academic publishing operations. This role is ideal for a motivated, technically inclined student eager to grow their skills in SQL, data analysis, and visualization while collaborating with experienced professionals.
As part of our commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment, this role requires working fully on-site.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Run SQL queries to extract, transform, and manipulate data from internal databases.
- Export and prepare datasets (e.g., CSV) for analysis.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis in Python (Jupyter Notebook) or R (RStudio).
- Create clear visualizations and summaries to communicate insights.
- Support the preparation of analytical reports, dashboards, and slide decks.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO Office team and cross-functional stakeholders on ongoing projects.
- Contribute to business analysis and/or requirements engineering tasks.
- Assist with documentation, data quality checks, and process improvements as needed.
Requirements
- Enrolled at a university or Fachhochschule (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related STEM field
- Strong command of English (C2); German or French at C1 is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft O365 (PowerPoint)
- Intermediate-level SQL skills
- Beginner-level Python or R for data analysis
- Solid data visualization skills
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and logical thinker
- Able to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
