Scientific Publishing Projects Manager – International Relations

We are looking for a skilled Scientific Publishing Project Manager with experience in international publishing development or publishing project management. The person hired into this newly created position will join a growing and dynamic team, who works across Europe and Asia Pacific, and will be responsible for implementing key projects and developing the relationships between the European and Chinese teams. This is a permanent and full-time position based in our headquarter office in Basel, Switzerland.

As Scientific Publishing Project Manager you will:

  • Develop and implement open access global scientific publishing projects and standards in collaboration with Publishers in Europe and Asia
  • Ensure continuous improvement of all editorial, production, and customer service processes
  • Work with project managers to oversee external publishing projects (evaluate project proposals, train relevant stakeholder to utilize the new tool, review content to ensure quality and adherence to internal guidelines)
  • In cooperation with Publishers, ensure that the editorial and production processes aligned globally
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the IT & R&D team to define and develop interactive tools
  • Act as key contact person between the headquarters in Basel, Chinese offices and European offices to develop and strengthen the communication
  • Participate actively in the global business development of the company
  • Travel internationally based on business need

The ideal candidate:

  • PhD degree in Engineering Science or related fields, IT or Master Degree in International Publishing
  • At least 3 years of experience in open access publishing
  • Experience in working with Chinese and European people is a strong asset
  • Chinese as mother tongue, fluent in English and proficiency in German
  • Strong capability to work collaboratively and communicate with multiple stakeholders across various cultures
  • Team player with the capability to work in a dynamic and international environment with excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to leverage conferences and other events to generate leads, build relationships, and progress opportunities
  • Able to think outside the box to identify and solve problems
